Day 10
“The heart of worship is surrender.”
Purpose Driven Life
Point to Ponder: Day 10
I don’t like to surrender. I don’t really care about controlling anything except my own life. But my life is mine. I learned the true meaning of surrendering to God on an early Friday morning in Texas in the summer of 2002.
Through out the whole summer God had been teaching me so much. One evening just before sunset on the Pacific shores of Oregon I recognized that all my life I had been trying to give God my best and failing. But then I understood that God does not want my best. God wants my all.
This idea was made a reality on that early Friday morning in Texas six weeks later. After a summer of getting 4 to 5 hours of sleep a night and 1 to 2 meals a day, it was the last day of camp at 3:00 in the morning and I had an end of the week video to make by 8:00. I fell on the floor in my video editing room and I had nothing left to give. I was completely empty physically, emotionally and spiritually. I had given everything I had within me. In that moment of complete emptiness and surrender, God filled me with everything I needed and I was able to complete my work through the spirit of God alone.
A moment like this may happen only once in a lifetime, but it effects everyday that follows.
