Day 12

“I’m as close to God as I choose to be.”
Purpose Driven Life
Point to Ponder: Day 12

The thought about choosing to be close to God that resonates the most with me is “I must choose to be honest with God.” Honesty is a choice. We don’t have to do it. Most of us don’t. It will not happen by accident and God will not make us.

Honesty is one of the two most important values of Blairology, respect being the other. In order to have a true relationship one must be honest. There is really no point to lie. Most of the time that I lie it is out of convenience because the truth is too complicated and I don’t have enough time to go into it. This practice is not healthy in the long run. Honesty will build a relationship. Honesty allows you to be yourself and is the key to intimacy. Without honesty there is no connection.

I don’t think that most people are even honest with themselves. That is where we must start. God wants us to be honest with each other, but first we must be honest with ourselves and with God. It is the only way. In fact being honest with God is more about being honest with yourself. God already knows the truth.

Honesty is the starting place for a healing relationship to begin. The more honest you are with God the closer you become.
